Student engagement can be at its highest levels when students use technology to meet objectives. When students are allowed the opportunity to use technology in their classroom, they many times become completely engaged. Often times when students are using technology, they are creating something. When students are creating, they are using higher order thinking skills. This means student engagement is at its highest.To gather new ideas for your classroom, just click on a curriculum topic to the left. There you will hopefully find new ways to integrate technology into your curriculum and classroom.

Edmodo How-To


Adding students to your class:

·         Create your account.  Make note of the group code that is on the right side of the screen.  Give your students that code.  Your students then need to go to the website or use the iPad app.  The students will need to give their name and create a username and password.  Then they will need to type in the group code you gave them.  Now they are part of your class.
 
 
Once all of your students have joined the group, click on the drop down arrow next to the code and lock the code.  This way, others will not be able to join the group.  When you need to add a new student, just unlock the code and give the student the new code.

·         Create a note.  Type a note to your class on the home page.  All students will be able to see the note once you send it to your class.  By typing a note, students can reply to the note and all the students in the class will be able to take part in an online discussion, sharing thoughts and ideas.

·         Create an assignment.  When you create an assignment, the teacher will be the only one to view the students’ responses.  As the students turn in their assignment, the teacher will be able to grade it and make a commit.


Once the assignment has been sent to the class, the teacher can see how many students have turned in the assignment.  The teacher will click on the “turned in” button to view and grade the students’ responses.  Once it has been graded, the students will be able to view their grade once they are logged into Edmodo again.

·         Upload a file.  When a teacher uploads a file, the student can read the document on Edmodo instead of a paper copy.  To begin, type the instructions in a note.  Then click on file to browse your computer for the file that needs to be uploaded.  Then send it to your class.
 
 
·         Attach a link.  Teachers can attach a website link into Edmodo.  This make for a quick access to a website especially if the URL is long.  Click inside the note and type the instructions for the website.  Then click on “link”.  Type the URL or copy/paste it from the website in the pop up box.  The link will attach, then just send it to your class.



·         Create a quiz.  Create a quiz to assess your students.  Type or copy/paste your questions and answers and select the correct answer if using multiple choice or true/false.  Quizzes can be multiple choice, true/false, fill in the blank or short answer.  If a multiple choice or true/false quiz is created, Edmodo will grade it for you.  Once you have created a quiz, add it to your library.  The next time you want to use the quiz, it will be ready for you.

·         Create a poll.  Easily create a poll for your students.  This can be a great classroom building activity to have your students get know each other or a way to get your students opinions on topics.
