Welcome to Mrs. Tindle's Technology Toolbox. This blog is designed to give teachers a "toolbox" of technology tips. Integrating technology into the curriculum is vital in today's classroom. Student engagement can be at its highest levels when students use technology to meet objectives. When students are allowed the opportunity to use technology in their classroom, they many times become completely engaged. Often times when students are using technology, they are creating something. When students are creating, they are using higher order thinking skills. This means student engagement is at its highest. To gather new ideas for your classroom, just click on a curriculum topic to the left. There you will hopefully find new ways to integrate technology into your curriculum and classroom.

Digital Portfolios Using Google

When a student has a Google account, they have the means to create a digital portfolio that they can keep with them through the years.  Here is a list of ideas that teachers can use to help students build digital portfolios.

  • Students can create a presentation, gearing it towards a certain subject.  Any piece of work that a student creates that is not digital, students can make a scan of the work.  Save the scan as a PDF file and upload it the file.

  • Video can be uploaded into Google accounts.  Ideas that teachers and students could use for video include:  reading a book (great to share at parent/teacher conferences), presenting a project to the class, and giving a video book report.  Any videos taken by an iPad will need to be emailed to a computer before being uploaded to drive.

  • When students create something worth remembering on the white board or Smartboard, take a picture of it and upload the picture to their Google account.
